The appearance of beauty

L'epifania della bellezza

 

Iniziamo cercando di spiegare il senso di questo blog, dedicato alla ricerca della bellezza come esercizio quotidiano per arricchire la nostra vita. La citazione dell’eroe antimafia Peppino Impastato ci è sembrata perfetta per aprire il nostro blog e guidarci poi in ogni pubblicazione di questa pagina:

“Se si insegnasse la bellezza alla gente, la si fornirebbe di un’arma contro la rassegnazione, la paura e l’omertà. All’esistenza di orrendi palazzi sorti all’improvviso, con tutto il loro squallore, da operazioni speculative, ci si abitua con pronta facilità, si mettono le tendine alle finestre, le piante sul davanzale, e presto ci si dimentica di come erano quei luoghi prima, ed ogni cosa, per il solo fatto che è così, pare dover essere così da sempre e per sempre. È per questo che bisognerebbe educare la gente alla bellezza: perché in uomini e donne non si insinui più l’abitudine e la rassegnazione ma rimangano sempre vivi la curiosità e lo stupore.”

Bisogna prima di tutto rendere omaggio a quest’ uomo, che pur essendo figlio della mafia ha avuto il coraggio di ribellarsi e denunciarne apertamente i soprusi a costo della sua stessa vita. In questa sede vogliamo semplicemente rendere reali alcune delle sue preziose parole, perché siamo convinti che allenarsi a cercare la bellezza sia davvero un modo per vivere meglio con noi stessi e con gli altri. Spesso la bellezza non è appariscente, anzi ha il più delle volte il carattere della discrezione e dell’umiltà ed è quindi più difficile da vedere, anche quando è li vicino a noi. Per questo bisogna educarci, imparare a cercare e a vedere la bellezza anche quando non è così scontata, perché allora apparirà e ci strapperà un sorriso di meraviglia, come l'apparizione di una nuvola nella stanza di un edificio fatiscente nella poetica opera dell'artista olandese Berndnaut Smilde.

 

E’ questa la sensazione di stupore che vogliamo ricercare e che, come dice Impastato, tiene viva in noi la curiosità e la forza per cercare le cose belle della vita, la tensione verso il meglio, quella forza che a lui ha dato il coraggio di reagire ad una realtà governata dalla mafia ovvero il contrario della rassegnazione che la nostra vita e il mondo che ci circonda debbano essere per forza così come li conosciamo.

La ricerca della bellezza è dunque un regalo che ci facciamo lasciandoci stupire  dalle cose meravigliose che la vita può offrire se vogliamo imparare a cercare.
